The AASM is headed to Washington, D.C., for our biggest, most well-represented advocacy trip in years. To make our biggest impact, we need your help today! In a political climate that becomes more chaotic and noisy by the minute, the sleep field requires your help to make sure our voices are heard above those of the vocal and monied interests in Washington.
Members of the AASM Board of Directors – alongside representatives from the AASM Political Action Committee (AASM PAC) and the American Alliance for Healthy Sleep (AAHS) – will be holding numerous meetings throughout the day on Tuesday, April 17, at the offices of members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives to bring light to issues concerning American sleep health and the practice of sleep medicine.
The AASM’s delegation will call upon federal lawmakers to publicly support:
- An exception to the Stark Law for sleep medicine, cutting an unnecessary and burdensome regulation inhibiting proper therapeutic oversight for Medicare patients;
- Regulatory and legal measures to curb America’s drowsy driving epidemic; and
- The formation of a Congressional Healthy Sleep Caucus to better organize members of Congress who champion sleep patients and the professionals who provide their lifechanging care
Today, please take a minute to sign our petition or make a gift to the AASM PAC to lend your support to this crucial campaign to create a better future for sleep medicine advocacy.
